Tawa Paneer




Preparation Time : 30 Min.
Cooking Time : 30 Min.
Serves : 3-4
Complexity : Medium

Ingredients :

For Marinating Paneer:
  • Paneer : 1.5 cups, cubed
  • Turmeric: 1/4 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chili powder: 1.5tsp
  • Salt: as per taste
  • Lemon: 1/2
For Caramelized Onion:
  • Onion: 1small or 1/2
  • Oil: 1tbsp

For Tawa Paneer:
  • Butter : 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds : 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato : 2 medium finely chopped
  • Green Bell Pepper : 1 cup, chopped finely
  • Ginger paste : 1 tsp
  • Green chili : 2-3
  • Coriander powder : 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder : 1/2 tsp (as per taste)
  • Salt : as per taste
  • few cilantro leaves finely chopped


Method :

Marinating The Paneer:
  1. Take kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt in bowl.
  2. Add lemon juice and make a paste.
  3. Add paneer cube and coat the paste on paneer cube with spice paste.
  4. Keep it aside for marination for about 45mins.
Caramelizing The Onion:
  1. Heat 1tbsp of oil in a skillet or tawa.
  2. Add onion, cook and stir them till get golden brown.
  3. Remove it from the tawa and keep it aside.
Making Tawa Paneer:
  1. In the same tawa on medium heat, heat more oil if needed.
  2. Add paneer pieces and saute them.
  3. Flip them from all sides and saute them till get little golden color.
  4. Remove them and keep them aside.
  5. Now melt butter in the same tawa.
  6. Add cumin seeds and allow them to sizzle. 
  7. Add tomatoes and salt and mix well. Cook it till tomatoes are soft and starts to leave butter.
  8. Add ginger paste and green chili.
  9. Add capsicum and mix well. Cook them till capsicum become soft.
  10. Add coriander power, red chili powder and mix well.
  11. Now add caramelized onions and sautéed paneer and mix gently, so that paneer is coated well.
  12. Garnish with Chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot with naan or chapati.
